Smackdown Rebound 08.29.08: And So We Wait…

Considering the WWE Title match was set last week for Unforgiven, there doesn’t seem to be much left to build on Smackdown! besides the Undertaker getting redemption on La Familia.  This was exactly the case last night as the majority of the matches on the show dealt with different participants of the upcoming Championship Scramble.  There were a lot of comments on last week’s blog that were unimpressed with the Smackdown Scramble compared to the RAW Scramble, but I still firmly believe the Smackdown match will be a pleasant surprise.  Other notes from last night’s show:

- R-Truth (Ron Killings from TNA) made his WWE re-debut last night against Kenny Dykstra.  It was good to see him back as his first stint with WWE was less than stellar, when he was the rapper ‘K-Kwik’.  I was quite surprised however how much offense Dykstra got in during their match, usually in these instances the debuting superstar goes over easy, however Dykstra’s effort made R-Truth look somewhat weak…

- Have I already said Maryse is smoking hot?  The lovely lady from Quebec picked up a win with fellow canadian Natalya.  Would WWE give Natalya the title already?  She is the most talented women’s wrestler on the brand (next to Victoria), Michelle McCool hasn’t even defended the belt since winning it a couple of months back.

- Another new diva debuted this week, Brie Bella from WWE’s farm system ‘Florida Championship Wrestling’ picked up a win over Victoria (I feel for Victoria because she has both beauty and skill, yet WWE continues to push her aside).  Bella has a twin sister who is also in the farm system, it will be interesting to see if and when she is brought up.

- Someone please explain to me what the Great Khali is still doing on TV.  He lost at Summerslam, and yet he continues to interfere in Triple H’s affairs.  I’m hoping his knees give out sooner than later, so we can finally bid adieu to the bumbling disgrace to the squared circle.

‘Til next week,

Will
