The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Linebacker James Farrior for five years and thus granting him his wish to retire a Steeler. The deal was worked out to five years, but it is thought that Farrior will retire after the third year of his contract. The deal is worth $18.25 million over the five year tenure.

Coach Tomlin stated yesterday that his starters will see a minimum of one half of play, when the Steelers play the Minnesota Vikings this Saturday at 8 pm Est. Pro Bowl Troy Polamalu continued to practice with the second team yesterday and is unlikely to play against the Vikings. “We are very pleased” with Polamalu’s progress, Tomlin said.

In other news, it appears the Steelers top two draft picks are putting a little too much pressure on themselves and thus it appears to be hampering their progress. Veterans of the team have decided to take a step back in mentoring both Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed. Despite flashes that have been far and few between, these two need to get back to the basics. My take is it’s better they iron the kinks out now and I still forsee big things from both these two. They are still in the process of learning the NFL game, as well as their roles. That’s about all for this week on the Steelers front.

Again, the Steelers take on the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday night at 8 pm Est time.
