Isringhausen Leaves Cardinals With Career Threatening Injury

Jason Isringhausen’s career with his hometown Cardinals has come to an end after a torn muscle near his elbow. He leaves the Cardinals as their all time saves leader with 217. This year was disasterous for Izzy who blew multiple saves before losing his closer title.

Always a tough way to end a career due to an injury.

Definitely. He won’t get a new contract with the Cards after his expires in the fall. With surgery being no guarantee of complete success, and given he’s in his mid 30’s, this could spell the end for Izzy.

Cards seem to do better with adversity. Regardless, this team has been a nice surprise staying in contention all year long.
