Marcus Tubbs Released & Bobby Engram Shelved

The Hawks have dumped Marcus Tubbs, he has had a tough time coming off a knee injury an with the new additions of Lawrence Jackson, he has become expendable. Mike Holmgren wouldn’t rule out bringing him back if the rehab on his knee was to progress; he has had microfracture surgey in 2006 and another surgery last year causing him to miss the whole season.

It’s been real hard,” Tubbs said earlier this year.  “I’m not going to lie to you, I think about it all the time.  It’s been pretty much like a year and a half since I’ve really got to play, so it’s really hard.”

I’m suprised and I’m not, Marcus is well liked, and well thought off but the team just couldn’t wait any longer to see if he could get healthy.

Still waiting on the TJ Duckett release, after seeing him play I’m just not sure he can contribute anything of value and that in the end Justin Forsett will take his roster spot.

Just found this out, Bobby engram is shelved for up to two months with a cracked shoulder it’s as if the Karma Police paid the reciever a visit today at practice. After holding out for money than finally reporting to camp the 35 yr old reciever is faced with missing a large portion of the season. This comes at a time when Deion Branch is still on the shelf, rehabbing from injury.

I hate being right, in my “questions for the pre-season” blog, I questioned both Engram’s durability and our recieveing depth with the loss of DJ Hackett, and Branch’s struggles to stay healthy I saw this as a major area for concern and felt that we did not sufficiently address this through the draft or free agency.

For the Hawks to remain competive the youngsters are really going to have to step up!

Its a good thing that your division is not very good, because without any recievers, it would make it unbelievably hard to win.

    Who is left at reciever?

Not Much: Nate Burleson is capable, Ben Obamanu has had an excellent camp and by all accounts could make a nice slot addition, The most intriging maybe Jordan Kent the former Basketball standout turned reciever had a great catch in the redzone against the Vikings. A timed throw it up and go get route, where he went up way up and got it. If his football IQ has caught up with his athleticism he maybe a sleeper to breakout…
