Cubs Take 2 of 3. Fukudome Ice Cold

The Cubs only took 2 of 3 on the weekend to miss my call of a sweep of the Cards.  Zambrano has a bad starts which needs to happen every now and again I guess which cost the team the 1 game.

Jim Edmonds was a monster in the first game of the series knocking out a couple and giving his team a chance to win…which they did.  For all of you who bashed me saying Edmonds was a solid pickup I would like to hear what you think of the “old washed up guy” now.  Edmonds is proving to be very valuable to this club and looks to have his groove back.

In other Cubs outfielder news Fukudome has been on a very cold stretch and needs to pick his game up so he doesn’t lose time.  Lou has beeen heard talking about how he needs more out of Fukudome or else he will be pulled in favor of guys like Reed, DeRosa, and Fontenot to get into the lineup.

What do you folks think of Fukudome at this point?  I myself think he has done a solid job still to this point as a rookie.  I think he needs to pick up his slack for sure however I think perhaps the bar has been set too high for him to come in and be Superman right away thanks to guys like Ichiro.  I think he might benefit from hitting the pine and letting Reed go out and provide some pop and allowing him to take a mental break.  Reed also doesn’t prove to be a worse player in the field where Johnson is more than capable.  Fukudome has alot to deal with.  He has come over from his home country, doesn’t speak a lick of english, and is playing more baseball and doing more flying then he is used to. At the end of the day if the Cubs keep winning games I am happy and I think Fukudome will be just fine.

Harden takes the hill against the Braves to start the series so put another W on the board for the Cubs!
