The Cleveland Browns reported today that OLB Antwan Peek had arthroscopic surgery on his knee this morning. It is the first major setback for the Browns this pre-season. They are hoping he will be back for the season opener against Dallas. He is young and should recover quickly, plus Romeo Crennel says he has a great work ethic. This may hamper Peek’s ability to come into the season fully ready to play at the level needed for our tough competition. I don’t expect that Willie McGinest will be used more often, but I do expect the Browns to consider carrying more LB’s on their roster to start the season. This could affect a decision to carry an extra CB instead.
The silver lining is that guys on the bubble, like Shantee Orr, Alex Hall, and David McMillan to get more reps in practice. Shantee Orr should make the team regardless, but maybe we’ll get to see a rejuvenated Orr make some back field tackles and some sacks. Alex Hall has had a good camp and may make the team as a special teamer. I am hoping he can take the opportunity to show the coaches he has some skills. McMillan has been with the team for 2 years and has 5 tackles to show for it. In this league and on this team, if you are not improving, you are falling behind. He better step up when he gets the reps in practice and in pre-season games.
Go BROWNS!!

Will Brady Quinn get any action when the regular season if he shows well in pre-season games?

Brady Quinn would have to have the best training camp in the history of the NFL for his performance to be the sole reason he sees time in the regular season. DA is the starting QB and, barring injury, will be the starter this year.
There are some individuals that believe if we start the season 0-4 or 1-3 that Quinn will get the nod. DA would have to play really poorly for Crennel to give Quinn a shot. Crennel believes DA gives the team the best shot to win and would continue to believe he could get us out of a hole.
On the other hand, he could flip a coin.
Thanks for the comment, Jim.

Tom, let’s hope Brady Quinn doesn’t need to see any action. If he does, it means that bad things have already happened to the Browns, which means the City of Cleveland would be let down yet again.
