The New York Jets have now signed all but two of their picks from the 2008 Draft.
CB Dwight Lowery and QB Erik Ainge became members of the Jets yesterday. Terms were not disclosed as per team policy.
Analysis:
Lowery is a player who may be able to contribute heavily in his rookie year, much like Darrelle Revis did previously. Coach Eric Mangini likes his ball hawking skills and the Jets’ Defensive Backfield roster is far from settled right now. Look for Lowery to start being worked into the mix slowly at first, but he has a real opportunity to seize a cornerback position in the future.
Ainge also comes into a state of affairs that is wide open. Neither Kellen Clemens nor Chad Pennington has been able to lay claim to the starting QB job. While Ainge obviously will not be considered as a serious candidate for the role, he may actually see some playing time this year as the health of both Clemens and Pennington could be described as decent at best.

I like what I’ve heard about Lowery as well. With so many teams playing more WR heavy offensive formations, being deep in the secondary has become a necessity - not a luxury.
