Former mixed martial arts light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was arrested Tuesday after a series of collisions allegedly involving the pickup truck he was driving.
Jackson was booked into Orange County Jail for investigation of felony evading, hit and run and reckless driving, according to Lt. Paul Dondero of the Costa Mesa Police Department. Bail was set at $25,000.
Police received a report of an accident on the 55 Freeway near 19th Street in Costa Mesa involving a large pickup truck that had struck other vehicles and fled the scene, Dondero said.
A Costa Mesa officer spotted the pickup getting involved in another collision and fleeing toward Newport Beach. The pickup, which had a tire disabled in the collisions, was pulled over in Newport Beach and Jackson was taken into custody without incident, Dondero said.
There were no injuries involved in the various collisions, he said.
Jackson, 30, who lives in Irvine, was upset by Forrest Griffin at UFC 86 earlier this month in Las Vegas.
UFC spokeswoman Jennifer Wenk in Las Vegas said UFC officials were aware of Jackson’s arrest and had no comment.

Should be very interesting to see how this story develops. I can’t really see any way that Jackson comes up with an ‘excuse’ that can please the fans and the organization. Will any punishment be handed down by Dana White or is ‘Rampage’ simply too big a star to sit on the bench for any extended period of time? Let’s see what kind of message is sent by the UFC in the coming days.

UPDATE : from our friends at TMZ.com
They scoop: Rampage then began driving on the center divider. But it gets worse. According to the police report, Jackson then drove on the sidewalk, “causing pedestrians to flee for their lives.” He started driving the wrong way on a crowded street, colliding with yet another car in an intersection. As he continued on, running several red lights, his tire disintegrated and he began driving on the rim. Rampage eventually got to the exclusive Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, where he again drove on the sidewalk, “causing pedestrians to flee in terror.”
So what happened? Rampage’s car eventually came to a stop, where police immediately arrested him at gunpoint. After taking him to the O.C. jail, they discovered that he was “medically unfit” to be booked, so they took him to an area hospital.

Medically unfit??? What could that mean? Does he have mental issues and went off his meds or something?
I heard Dana White was flying in to pay his bail. Odd seeing as he kicked jesse taylor out of the ufc for harassing girls, but will bail out rampage for almost running multiple people over? There has to be more to the story.

This is unreal! I honestly can’t see how the UFC would allow him to fight. This is a prime chance for the UFC to show they are on par with other major pro sports. If they want to be taken seriously they have to come down hard on him! Just my 2 cents.

I saw on tmz that he was having a lot of depression issues. Maybe he’ll just get sent to rehab, but he’s facing a lot of felony charges.
poor rampage i don’t want the ufc to do anything to him
lol I like him.
