Who Takes the Spot of Soriano?

Well folks with Hart and Longoria (2 Members of my keeper team “McLovin” in my Gong Show Fantasy Baseball League) being selected as the final players for their respected teams who do you folks think will take the spot for Alfonso Soriano?

At first glance I think Wright is the lock here.  With the New York factor in, plus the fact that he is a very solid player, and he came second in the fan vote in behind Hart, I would be suprised to not see Wright named to the team.

lol I love it James…not a homer at all eh.

Well Howard has some fantastic numbers but that .234 BA will keep him out of this convo. Burrell is a very real option but he pales in comparison to David Wright. Wrights BA is .270 to Burrells .279 and he has 17 HRs to Burrells 22 but RBIs, Runs, SB’s all go to Wright wiht 70-54, 59-48, and 10-0. I am a fan of Burrell and think he deserves his props this season but I just doubt it will be with an all-star spot. I think Lee in Houston has a better shot. Lee has a line of .293, 21, 72, 46, and 4…pretty solid

Holliday takes his spot in the starting lineup but they still need to add one more player to the roster to take his roster spot.

Well I took a shot at tossing 2 names out there…….I think the MLB All-Star game is not much fun to watch so to be honest it does not matter to me who gets in just if it can at least be an entertaining game to watch

Yes I agree it isn’t the best game in the world but it is what it is. The derby is always my favorite part of the weekend.

Now what about Griffey? Would anyone really have a problem with him being named as the injury replacement for Alfonso? If not I think he should be the guy…I won’t lie I voted for Griffey to start.

Here is a quote from griffey today in a local paper here in philly.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr., making light of the fact that he didn’t make the All-Star team, to reporters: “If you can’t hit lefthanders, you bunt. If you can’t hit righthanders, you bunt. If you can’t make the All-Star team, you go to the Bahamas.”

You gotta love the guy! Griffey Jr. is one of my all-time favorite athletes. I have had this convo on here before about how I used to rock the backwards hat and do the Griffey swagger when playing baseball out in the school yard….He is one hell of a ball player and an even better role model. This guy is the anti-Bonds.

Really if they want to put a classy touch on the final all-star game at Yankee stadium why not have one of the sweetest swings in baseball history in the dugout.

Getting griffey’s autograph in Cherry Hill, NJ when i was 14 in 1994 was one of the best things i ever did.

Nice! Don’t even know what I would say to him if I ever had the chance to meet him.

And the winner is…David Wright. Wright will take Sorianos spot. Like I said in my blog he likely is the most deserving with his numbers, a solid fielder, the fan voting, and the NYC thing didn’t hurt his chances.

Edmonds had a nice day today. 2-4 , 4 RBI, HR and 2 runs scored.
How has he done since being acquired?

Edmonds has really picked up his play over the last month. I would love to hear from the critics now about how he would play for this club. People saying he wasn’t even the same fielder anymore! Jim has made like 5 sportscentre catches since joining the Cubbies…
