NFL’S BEST FANS????

Here we go, footbal fans, with a debate on who is the best!

Who has the best fans?

Who has the most diehard, crazy, scary, loyal and proud fan base?

I like to think that the places that have the majority of their fans dripping in face paint, masks and costumes are the best. They exemplify the commitment to showing your true colors, and not being afraid to be as loud and proud as you can be. They share a unity with the team and each other and make the opposing team fully aware that they are the enemy.

These are the fans that you see packed up to the rafters at every home game, but they are also the ones that you see from coast to coast packing the competitions stadiums to the rafters. They are the fans that will walk into a croud of over several hundred screaming and heckling fans of the opposing team, and strut their stuff past them without even missing a beat.

They are the fans that know every number and every player. They can dish out stats that many of the players and personel wouldn’t even know.

They remember every big win, every championship, what day, and what year, but they even more so remember the bad days and the hard pills to swallow. They remember the “tuck rule”, the “wide right”, the catch made a quarter of the length of the football away from the goal line with no time left on the clock on superbowl sunday. They remember all, and have the scars to prove it.

They come to games between two teams that they don’t even cheer for, and yet wear their teams colors with pride and poise.

They have heard every wise crack about their team and can easily spit out a rebuttle at the drop of a dime.

They hate to see their team loose, but they can’t stop watching them play.

They are the true fans, and they are the best.

So which team has more of these loyal and heart grasping people then the rest of the competition. The Buffalonians in Buffalo? The Dawgs at the Dog pound in Cleveland? The cheeseheads in Green Bay? Who Dat down in New Orleans? Who Dey in Cincy? What about those towel waving nuts in Pittsburgh? Piggy Piggy Washington? Viking heads in Minnesota? Or perhaps the Raider nation filling up the BLACK HOLE in Oakland?

If you have read my blogs before, you will know my answer! You would know that I say it the NFLs winningiest team! The team that says “Just Win Baby!” The team with a commitment to excellence! The dwellers of the black hole! The three time superbowl champions! The monsters from the west! the loud, proud and hungry Raider Nation! The fans of the Oakland Raiders!

But my opinion may be somewhat bias!

So?

Who is the best?

WHY?

 You decide!

      Great topic and blog Lee!

Green Bay has to be top 3! Washington is a sleeper when looking at where they fit fan base wise. The Steelers are in top 3 for me too!

Anywhere cold that fills a stadium has to tae the cake. then there’s teams like indy with their cozy little dome and team that never loses, now there’s some dedicated fans.

      Go bills.

How did I know that you would pick Buffalo?
I have to admit, the fans in Buffalo are great, and when I go to the games and they are not playing the Raiders, I love cheering for them.
I am going to guess that it will be completely opposite in Toronto, wouldn’t you think?

Thanks Kevin. I would say that all three teams that you mentioned have great fans. I see quite a lot of Steelers fans everywhere, so you know that they are far and wide. I don’t know of too many people that don’t at least like the Packers, and to put Cheese on your head shows at least some dedication.

Great point Justin. When its past the point of freezing and the wind is bitter bitter cold, and every seat is still full, I would have to say that marks a great fan base.

Modern day New England has to be in the mix but it wasn’t always like it is now. My family had Pats season tixx from 1973 thru 1985. I remember far too many times leaving Schaefer/Sullivan/Foxboro/(whatever else they named it) Stadium when there were 19000-22000 people in a stadium. True, the Pats were one of the worst run organizations back then. Ever since the super trio came to Foxboro, the whole thing changed. Pats fans have to be thankful for Bob Kraft, Bill Parcells and Drew Bledsoe.

All time I have to say Green Bay & Washington are tops

I am getting the impression that everyone thinks that the Packers are at least in the top three. With good reason as well. For a team with such a good fan outing every year, and in such a small market city, they really do show how a fan needs to be.
As for New England, that is an interesting choice. No doubt the fans as of late have been very good, as the team has been having a great amount of success, but what I wonder, is if they start to trail off and loose their success, will the fan support be lost as well.
It is easy to cheer for a team that is doing well, but when they are struggling and you still pack the stands, that is when you show your true colors. I have seen quite the emergance of Patriots fans as of late, and maybe they have reached that higher plateau that teams like Green Bay, Buffalo, Washington and Oakland among others have.
All 4 teams that I have just mentioned have had struggling seasons as of late, and the fans have still been there, where as in places like San Fransisco, I see a drop in the amount of fan support that they have recieved, now that they are struggling.

It must also be nice to enjoy so much success living in a place like the Boston area. The Celtics just won the NBA championship, the Red Sox won twice in the last fiew years, the Patriots won 3 superbowls in the last fiew years, and the Bruins are starting to show some good promise.
Good times out east, thats for sure!

Thanks for the comments Patrick and Jim

I would agree with 5 of the 6, but Chicago would be the odd man out on that one. I would have Cleveland in there.
My top three would be Oakland, Green Bay and Buffalo, then Washington, Pittsburgh and Cleveland.
(I may be a little bias on Oakland though!!!….just a little)

No way, im not impressed with any fan going out to watch their 16-0 football team.

“Maybe we should stop by for a celtics game on the way back …. i hear they serve caviar” lol

Man! What I wouldn’t do for a 16-0 season! lol
Heak, with the past few in Oakland, I wouldn’t even be that upset with a 6-10 season…….ok, maybe not, but above 500 would be nice.
