Javon Walker to be at training camp!

Less then one week after Oakland Raiders wide reciever Javon Walker was beaten, robbed and left on the streets of Las Vegas, coach Lane Kiffin spoke with him, and expects a full recovery.

Walker substained multiple face injurys and a concussion on Monday June 16th, and was released from the hospital on Wednesday June 18th. He then went to an undisclosed place for some rest and relaxation, and I’m sure to reflect on some of the decissions that he made that night of the 16th.

He was to fly to Oakland on thursday, to meet with coach Kiffin and the training staff and team docters to be sure of no lingering problems that he may have substained.

The Raiders have yet to report on the results of their tests, but coach Kiffin is confident that Walker will be ready and rearing to go for the upcoming season.

Other information about what happened the night of the incident are yet to be processed and Walker has yet to speak with the media. He however did release a statment to his fans thanking them for their support and prayers.

Kiffin addressed his team and made sure to warn them of the dangers of being a professional athlete in the NFL. He incouraged them to avoid any places or situations that could get them into trouble. He also spoke of the importance of having extra people around you at all times.

Quarterback Jamarcus Russell spoke to the media about the incident and further reiterated coach Kiffins comments on being safe. As the quarterback of the team, it is important for Russell to lead by example, and making that statement shows that he is ready to be the leader and as such, lead by example.

It will be interesting to know what Walker has to say about spraying champaigne, and partying that night, but what will be really interesting to know, is if he has finally learned not to let himself be involved in these type of situations.

This is now two strikes on him, so one more and he may be out! It is time for Walker to mature into a more responsible person. If he likes the party scene, to me thats fine, but if he does it, he has to do it smarter.

A a fan of the Oakland Raiders I really do hope that Walker can get through this with nothing but a lesson and some wisdom, with the desire to play footbal like he is capable of doing.

Send me your thoughts of the incident, and whether or not you feel Walker had this coming? And if you feel that he will be ready for the upcoming season, and if he will regain his probowl form.

I dont really know what goes on in clubs in Vegas and maybe spraying eveyone with booze is acceptable by most…however if I am doing that sort of thing 1 night and one of my best friends dies in my arms because of it, I can tell you I would never spray a bottle of booze again for the rest of my life. I could win the Superbowl and would simply celebrate but would not want to be involved in anything like that.

This also brings in the age old question of how these guys should act in public. Yes they should live thier lives, yes they should be allowed to party, but come on fellas…you make millions, kids look up to you, and this is how you act?

Personally if millions of little Raider fans look up to me I don’t want to be involved in these things…not only so I don’t get my ass kicked, but so kids all over Raider nation and across the world can look up to me.

Did anyone ever hear these dumb stories about Elway, Gretzky, Lemieux, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders…grow up!

Someone needs to take all these guys who act like fools and give them a solid kick in the balls….Ray Emery, Chris Henry, Javon Walker, Pacman Jones, etc.. figure your shit out.

      Very very very true Sandy!
I don’t think that a player in any major sports league should stop having fun with their lives, and if they have fun by getting drunk and partying in clubs, then so be it. BUT… choose your clubs, and times, and people to be around very carfully and make no attempt to be the center of attention, and most definately dont let yourself be left alone. Dont draw attention to yourself and dont flash your “millions” around, and avoid letting yourself be seen doing something stupid, for all of your fans, and the kids in perticular, to watch you do.
Walker should have been the last person on the face of the earth caught spraying anything on anyone, and to see him do it is simply dumbfounding. He, no doubt, needs to get his act together, and as I have said before, he has no strikes left, because if he doesnt get his act together now, he will find himself DEAD in the street, and not just beaten.
Now that pretty much every player in every major league is a millionare, we are seeing more and more of some of them flaunting their money and doing stupid things with it. With that being the case, there needs to be more emphasis on learning how to have a “proper” immage. Which means, doing stuff that can get you killed will have to be discouraged far more.

I really hate this situation!!!! stupidity makes me sick!
