Detroit Tigers’ Jeremy Bonderman’s jersey hung in the dugout during the baseball game against the Cleveland Indians Saturday, June 7, 2008 in Detroit. Bonderman will likely miss the rest of the season after undergoing medical procedures related to a blood clot.
According to the Detroit News the right-hander was examined Friday at the Detroit Medical Center and it was determined, according to the Tigers, that he has a “blood clot of the axillary vein due to thoratic outlet compression syndrome.”
Tigers head trainer Kevin Rand talked of Bonderman’s injury. “If surgery is, in fact, indicated, he will probably be lost for the season,” Rand said. “Think of (the vein) like a straw, and it was pinched. That’s what thoratic syndrome does. “Saying anything further than what was released is just speculation, because there’s too many further examinations that need to take place.”
I promise to pass along any updates on Jeremy Bonderman. For now the Tigers have put Bonderman on the 15 day DL. The most likely scenario is Dontrelle Willis staying in the rotation and Armando Galarraga replacing Bonderman and starting on sunday afternoon.

It looks like its official. The Detroit News is reporting that Bonderman had surgery this morning and is out 6-12 months. Very similiar to what happened to Kenny Rogers last year and he missed all of spring training and the first three months of the season.

And the news keeps on getting worse for the Tigers……not good.
