Sheffield is a funny guy. Seems everytime he leaves a city, the fans of that team hate him. I know thats true in NY, and I've heard the same with LA & Atlanta. And Im sure brewer fans hate him after he admitted he tanked plays on purpose to get traded.

Yet you always hear how the media and his teamates liked the guy. Tough to explain. I'm sure their is a side to him we don't see.

Funny thing is, if he makes the HOF(which is a distinct possibility) whose hat does he wear. Toss out the Brewers and Padres. Florida seems like the most likely choice, since he played their for nearly 5 years, and won a World Series ring. Dodgers would be choice number 2, but only played 3 1/2 seasons there. Toss out Atlanta, and in New York he was great for only 2 seasons. So I guess unless he goes on a 3 year tear in Detroit, Florida will have its first HOF player (?)

Victor, I have to disagree Sheffield has not had a poor attitude. Frankly from what I read in the Detroit media his teammates love him and has a great relationship with Jim Leyland. Sheff has had terrible shoulder injuries dating back to last May. Thats the problem and its affecting his swing...he is almost 40 so I agree with Kevin that he may need to retire but he still has $14 million due him next season.

I hope they shut him down until he is healthy and get him ready for a playoff push or at least next season...he is only 18 homeruns away from 500

i may have to pick him up for my fantasy team. Especially since most of my league guys live in Toledo. That would be sweet if he turns out to be a solid player. I agree that Sheffield and his lousy attitude need to ride off into the sunset.

The only negative I have read about him from Tiger scouts is that he strikes out alot. I think an injection of youth in the lineup is needed plus the Tigers are desperate for some left handed pop.

Larish was a stud in 2006 when the Sun Devils lost in the College World Series Final. This kid will be a good one! Sheffield needs to pack it in.

Correction...Larish didn't make it to the west coast from Toledo today so he was scratch from the lineup and Guillen was inserted into the DH position with Inge playing third base.
