The Chicago Cubs finished the sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday at Wrigley Field. The Cubs finally picked up their level and play and finished the sweep of a solid ball club. The D-backs if Cubs fans recall took care of them easily in the playoffs last season so it was nice to see the Cubbies put these fellas down early in the season.
Chicago now sits at 22-15 good for first in the division and Kerry Wood looks to have calmed down into his closer role. Wood also has added a new “backup slider” to his arsenal that has looked very very good. Soriano finally looks to have got his bat off his shoulders and lets see this ship keep going fellas!
Today Zambrano will start things off against the Padres! I am going to call a 6-2 victory for the Cubs tonight. Randy Wolf will be 2-3 at days end with big Z at 6-1.

I watched bits of all 3 games. Zona batters were behind on many counts and Cubs got timely hitting and pitching. Zona bullpen was not what it had been for the first 6 weeks of the season.

The Cubs so far this season have done a very nice job with the chances they have been given for the most part (outside of a few losses from blown saves) but that was expected with a new closer. This Cubs team is very hard to make it past if you are the opposing pitcher especially when Alfonso is swinging the bat like he has of late.

And I was a touch of on the 6-2 victory but the right idea for sure…a Cubs blow out to start the series off!
