News broke yesterday that the Packers released WR Koren Robinson. With his troubles seemingly behind him (congratulations Koren) and the Packers drafting of a couple younger WR’s - this move was just another part of the Thompson-McCarthy business plan. The off-season, though shorter for the Pack than in years past thanks to the NFC final appearance, has been entertaining thus far. In a weird way, I guess I sort of enjoy the happenings in the offseason for both the Packers and my beloved NHL Ottawa Senators. It is almost unreal how much attention the Packers draw - even in the dead of the offseason. It just won’t be long before the gear up to the real deal begins again. I also have to say I enjoy that both my favourite pro teams also decide to not make a big splash but build ahead with their own smarts. So far it seems to generate a decent team year in and year out, and playoff appearances; Championships though…well….let’s wait until January/February 09 and June of 09 okay…
As the sunshine overtakes all else going on around Green Bay, Wisconsin today I can’t help but feel that sunny days are ahead for the Packers (and Senators too!)
Over and Out for now
