Aftermath of Rookie Orientation Camp and onto the OTA’s

Well the previous weekend’s Rookie Orientation Camp concluded last Sunday.  As mentioned by head coach McCarthy - the Packers indeed signed four players from the 19 invited.  This gives them a roster total of 79, with the 80th spot presumably belonging to RB Ryan Grant.

Signed are; DT Fred Bledsoe, CB’s Kyle Ward and Condrew Allen, and  OT Ryan Considine.   Of these four two interesting notes.  On Wednesday it was reported DT Fred Bledsoe may require arthroscopic ankle surgery - so his signing was not formally announced, and appears to possibly be delayed.  As for CB Condrew Allen he appears to be that one exception who comes out of nowhere every year as the undrafted, free agent weekend tryoutee who makes an impression and gets a ticket to the next stage;  He fits this bill perfectly as even his alma matter, Portland State’, website does not include a detailed description of him.

Coming up for the Pack is the team’s OTA’s (Organized Team Activities).  These begin Monday, May 19, 2008 thru Thursday, June 12, 2008.  Of special note for locals or fans coming to town;  One OTA session a week (weather permitting) will be open to for public viewing.  To catch the action, stop by Ray Nitschke Field on May 21 or 29 along with June 4 or 11.

Looking into the future - June 17-19 is mandatory mini-camp, with July 28 being the first training camp practice at Clarke Hinkle Field across from Lambeau.  Stop by and become what the locals call a ‘railbird’ - the term giving to the sidewalked - bleacher faithful!
