The Chicago Cubs continued to put runs on the board in a 7-1 thumping of the New York Mets. In a series that will be a very good measuring stick for where this club is at, the Cubs came out of the gates strong. Ramirez knocked another out of the park in the 4th inning for his 5th homer of this early season, and Felix Pie also went yard for the first time this season on an offering from relief pitcher Sosa.
Carlos Zambrano again looked solid in his 3rd win of the season going 7 strong with 5 hits, 1 ER, 2 walks, and 4 K’s. Marmol and Wood both came in to the game and both had very similar results. Both Wood and Marmol shut the door allowing no hits and no walks to end the ball game.
Cub Clips:
Fukudome just continues to impress me with his terrific plate apperances.
D-Lee was solid again with 1 hit and 2 runs scored.
Soriano was reported to have been doing some jogging prior to the game and plans to be back next week.
Reed Johnson reached base twice with 1 hit and 1 walk and continues to make the Coco Crisp rumours go away. Toronto is really looking smart for letting him go for nothing :)
