Blue Hawk Down?

The Seahawks biggest off-season move was deciding the fate of coach Homgren was he going to be back? or was he moving on. I am sort of suprised he’s back with what I’m hearing out of Seattle. Gm Tim Ruskell recently was quoted as saying for “from this point forward I think we’ll come more dependant on the draft”. Which has that sort of rebuilding ring to it, doesn’t it? The Hawks have made only minor offseson moves picking up TJ Duckett, and of course loseing Josh Brown. The Hawks have some positives moving forward their defense can be dominant, they have a good pash rush, speed at linebacker and a servicable secondary. But offensively there have been struggles, we couldn’t consistently run the ball on anyone last year, so we switched to a pass first mentality that worked against teams with weaker secondaries.
So going into pre-season many questions remain and unlike years past we have made no attempt to answer them through free-agency. After making the superbowl a few years back these Hawks have seemed like they are 2-3 players short of making a serious run back, now I am worried we may be 2-3 players short of making the playoffs what with young teams like the Vikings among others expected to improve this year.
I’ll post a Seahawks Draft preview in the next couple days…

Adding Jones via free agency was a pretty nice pickup for the Hawks I think. Will be interesting to see where Alexander ends up

The Duckett and Jones backfield has power and speed. I like it! Looking like Alexander will be released they are saying.

Yeah alexander will be a june 1st cut. They could trade him but would take $150,000 less of a cap hit then if they just release him.
He would last long on free agency. He probably will be some teams short yardage back.

Bears and Texans have to be calling Alexander’s agent! It really looks like they are going to release him this week.

Hey Terry,
What did you think of Shaq yesterday? I know alot of people critized the trade but the big man made his mark yesterday, throwing his body around to show his team that he is willing to sacrifice anything. Then when he went down and Duncan tried to give him help to get up, he gave him the death stare and wouldnt take his help, instead waiting for Suns players to help him, as if to say ITS ON! It was a playoff type game for sure.

Loved it honestly that and the Utah game they just lost, Shaq showed signs of fitting in, also if I was the Suns I’d look to play good enough to stay just were I was in the standings as of yesterday they would end up with a first round series with the Hornets.

Sorry Back to the Hawks I too like the Jones signing but one big thing no one mentioned yet is he is avaerage at everything, good enough to start in dallas becuase of his abilities in the blocking and passing game. So if he was just average with that running attack in Dallas with thier O-line, how can he be the answer in Seattle.

But the Suns lost all 4 games this season to the Hornets, one with Shaq in the line-up, that would be my only concern. Utah would be a good match-up or the Rockets in the 1st round.

Yeah but Hornets are young and history tells us the playoffs are very different last year the Nets got owned by the Raps except in the playoffs.
For a Team like the Suns it’s hard to get up for every game Hornets are the most beatable team in the West right now next to Denver, Goldenstate.
