Lions finally end losing streak

The six-game losing streak, mercifully, is over. All that stands between the Lions and their first .500 season since 2000 is a trip to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field, where the Lions have not won since 1991.  Considering the fact the Pack cannot improve or alter their playoff positioning, it presents the Lions with the best opportunity in recent memory to end the fifteen years of misery at Lambeau.

T.J. Duckett, placed the Lions on his back and ran for a career-high 102 yards, helping overcome the loss of starter Kevin Jones to an apparent ACL knee injury.  Currently, it is unclear as to whether the ligament is partially torn or a complete tear.

Lions quarterback Jon Kitna suffered through a miserable performance. He completed nine passes, missing several open receivers.  Speculation continues to mount as to whether Mike Martz will resign/retire at season’s end.  Kitna has endorsed the return of Martz, however many pundits believe that if Martz leaves, Kitna’s departure may soon follow.

Lions middle linebacker Paris Lenon stepped in front of a pass over the middle from Chiefs quarterback Brodie Croyle and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Lenon had an impressive day as he continues to fight to keep his linebacking position thanks to all of the criticism that has been bestowed upon the Lions defense.
The much-maligned Lions tackle tandem of Shaun Rogers and Cory Redding responded with a big effort. Rogers was back to his old disruptive self on the field, finishing with two sacks and a pair of quarterback hurries, while Redding finally registered his first sack of the season and pressured the quarterback three more times. Rogers has set a career high with 6 1/2 sacks this season.

Interesting stats

7-3 — The Lions’ record when scoring first this season.

3-1 — The Lions’ record against AFC West opponents this season. That includes a season-opening win at Oakland, wins at home against Denver and Kansas City and an embarrassing 51-14 road loss at San Diego last weekend.

513– Pass attempts by Lions quarterback Jon Kitna this season. It’s the fifth time in team history a quarterback has thrown at least 500 passes in a season.
