On Sunday, the Browns are hosting the Houston Texans. Both teams were perennial NFL pushovers the last 4 years. I don’t know about you, but it seems like they play each other every year…doesn’t it. The truth is we’ve played them the last 3 years and lost to the Texans in the last 2 matchups.
Do the Texans have the Browns number? I don’t think so, but the Texans are not a pushover. Matt Schaub is a good QB, and we all know what Andre Johnson can do. Ron Dayne…if he still had a “W” on his helmet, he could be scary. The Browns secondary is without rookie CB, Eric Wright. They were already banged up and should have a tough game against Houston.
But, we are talking about the Browns. Offense, right? What? Browns fans everywhere thought the defense was the strength of our team. Derek Anderson, K2, Braylon Edwards, and the sure handed Joe Jurevicius, have provided us with an exciting, score from anywhere offense! I am not taking anything away from Jamal Lewis, who always comes out hitting. The O-line has done an excellent job of pass blocking all year. Thank you, Joe Thomas for protecting DA’s backside. The run blocking & schemes have not worked as well.
The Browns special teams are incredible with Joshua Cribbs putting the team in great field position numerous times per game. That guy should get a trip to Hawaii.
This game is another must win for the Browns to keep pace the first place Steelers. We are one game back thanks to the ever popular J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets! Unfortunately, for Browns fans, the Steelers drew Miami this weekend. Uhhhhh, yeah, Steelers win. The season is getting short and we NEED every W we can get.
You say, “What about the wildcard, Tom?”. I say, “Jacksonville will beat Buffalo.” See previous statement about needing every win we can get.
I see a high scoring affair. If the Browns can put more pressure on Schaub than the Texans can put on DA, the Browns will win. I don’t see either rushing attack being a factor.
Vegas says Cleveland by 3.5. I’ll take Houston on that bet as it will come down to a Phil Dawson field goal. Browns up early, defense wearing down as the offense struggles in the second half. Another late drive and Dawson’s foot for the victory.
Browns 30 Texans 27. I’ll take the over.
Go BROWNS!
