Be sure to register here and at our other feature sites to help us fuel our many bloggers and readers. Our focus during the fall is going to be the NFL and U.S. College Football. Starting tomorrow you will all see college football coverage on a variety of teams and conferences. Now lets get this started!

Not to anyones surprise, the NFL season has produced many storylines in only three weeks of action. As there are every year, some teams exceed expectations while others fail miserably in living up to expectations.

Look no further than the Green Bay Packers when it comes to a huge surprise. Even Brett Favre said it himself, he never thought his team would be 3-0 to start the season. But this is when having a great scouting staff and strong management pays off. You can’t throw away draft picks for the sake of taking a chance on a player, are you listening Mike Shannahan in Denver? Please tell us all why you wasted a 3rd round pick on Maurice Clarett a few years ago. Anyways, I digress. Bottom line is, solid free agent signings and great drafting will go a long way to determining your success on the field. Now, just think if Randy Moss had of signed in Green Bay, how much better would they be?

Are the Dallas Cowboys a surprise at 3-0? Not really but they have been a great 2nd half team through the early part of the season. The biggest surprise with the Cowboys is how well their defense has played. It is still early but it seems that Wade Phillips 3-4 scheme is holding up quite well. What many fans are wondering is when will Terrell Owens implode? Well, if they keep on winning, it should keep T.O. a happy camper!

When it comes to early season disappointments the New Orleans Saints are the runaway winners. There are many aspects to consider when considering the quick derailment of the Saints. First off, they are playing a much tougher schedule than last year. When you finish with the second best record in the NFC last year, it means more difficult games. Secondly, the Saints are not going to sneak up on anyone this year unlike last year. For some reason, the Saints caught alot of breaks last year but it has been the absolute opposite to start the season and it got alot worse when RB Deuce McAllister went down with a season ending knee injury on Monday night. The Saints defense is one of the worst in the league and QB Drew Brees has not received much protection from his offensive line. RB Reggie Bush has been average at best and needs to be alot better if his team is going to make a push for a potential wildcard berth. But for now, they will take their first win!

Last but not least are the San Diego Chargers. They have lost as many games in the first three games of the season, two, which they lost all of last season going 14-2. RB LaDainian Tomlinson has yet to find his game and QB Phillip Rivers is still only in his second year as a starter while leaning this game. The Chargers defense has not lived up to its pre-season billing and head coach Norv Turner continues to run a clubhouse atmosphere as he has done at his many coaching stops in the NFL. Lucky for the Chargers, their division counterparts are average at best with the likes of Kansas City and Oakland kicking around. Even the Denver Broncos who sit at 2-1 have all sorts of defensive problems. This division is going to come down to who improves the most over the next few weeks and can take a stranglehold on the division lead.

So even with the season only three weeks old, some teams are close to hitting the panic button, wouldn’t you say?

Back tomorrow with a college football round-up!
